A backdoor has been discovered in the computer security of the Swedish signals intelligence agency, the National Defence Radio Establishment, known by its Swedish initials FRA.

Newspaper Dagens Nyheter tried the security system of several state agencies.

“Of course this is embarrassing,” says an FRA spokesperson to Dagens Nyheter.

As well as the FRA, the aviation authority LFV, courts and private firm SwedBank also had safety problems.

The FRA monitors all messages sent across Sweden, including email, and has access to a huge amount of sensitive material.

The agencies are not using the latest version of the Flash application correctly. This means hackers can access their computers.
