Swede Mikaela Laurén was crowned world champion in boxing Saturday after going ten rounds in the ring against American Alexandra Lopes at the World Boxing Council gala in Västerås.

Laurén, who use to swim on Sweden's national team, won the super welterweight title and told Radio Sweden's sports department that the victory was her greatest yet.

"This is what I trained for, from day one, to become world champion in boxing, because I never managed to get it in swimming," said the 38-year-old Laurén.
