Increase in organic meat production
The production of organic meat in Sweden is on the increase. According to the National Food Agency last year 15 percent of slaughtered beef and 22 percent of mutton came from animals that were brought up on organic fodder.
Those are increases of 40 and 48 percentage points respectively since 2009.
Thirteen percent of all eggs produced in Sweden during 2013 were also organic, an increase of 7 percentage points over the period. But pork and chicken saw only marginal increases, and the upward trend in eco-milk stalled last year.
