A Swedish Television documentary alleges that the construction and maintenance contracts for the New Karolinska Solna University Hospital in Stockholm are the subject of aggressive tax planning, depriving the Swedish tax authorities of substantial sums of money.

The broadcaster's investigative programme, Uppdrag Granskning, claims to have uncovered details of elaborate financial arrangements.

Under the agreements, the construction company responsible for building the new Karolinska hospital has allegedly transferred money via loans from the SEK 50 billion project to Luxembourg to avoid paying Swedish tax.

The companies involved deny any wrongdoing, stressing that they are operating entirely within the law.
