South African judge throws out murder case
The British businessman Shrien Dewani has been acquitted of murdering his Swedish wife during their honeymoon, with the South African judge saying Monday that the state had not made an adequate case against him, reports Agence France Presse.
Anni Dewani was shot dead in the back of a taxi in a Cape Town suburb in 2010. The taxi driver, along with two other men, have since been convicted of the murder, but claimed that the hit was ordered by the victim's husband. He has consistently denied the charges and claims the couple was hijacked at gunpoint while driving through an impoverished Cape Town neighbourhood.
