Government to announce snap election on December 30
The Swedish government will formally announce a snap election on the 30th of December through a cabinet decision. The election will be held on the 22nd of March.
The reason the decision is announced on the 30th instead of the 29th as previously stated is that the government wants to make sure that it complies with legal restrictions.
Prime Minister Stefan Löfven said he is still open to discuss cross-aisle cooperation that might remove the need for a snap election, but added that he did not see it as very likely to happen.
