Delays in train services following collision

Published tisdag 23 december 2014 kl 19.28

Train services in Stockholm and from Stockholm to Gothenburg have been suspended or delayed following a collision in Solna. Nobody appears to have been injured in the crash.

Around 6 p.m. on Tuesday a commuter train crashed into a wheel loader that had stopped on the tracks in Solna. The wheel loader was demolished and the train sustained major damages. The between 500 and 700 passengers on the train were evacuated and the driver was reported to have "jumped out of the machine".

"Nobody appears to be hurt, but we're making very sure," Lars Lindberg, leader of the rescue operation, told news agency TT.

The accident affects train traffic between Karlberg and Sundbyberg as well as national train services between Stockholm and Gothenburg through Västerås and Örebro. Commuter trains between Bålsta, Västerhaninge and Nynäshamn are also affected by the delays.
