Areas in central and northern Sweden will get a lot of snow, and the SMHI weather agency is warning that it will cause slippery roads and snow storms.

People celebrating Yule in the counties of Västernorrland (around the city of Sundsvall) and Uppland (around Uppsala) can expect a very white Christmas. Along the Uppland coast SMHI expects about ten centimetres of snow.

Most of Sweden is covered with snow, stretching up from north of Stockholm and above the great lake of Vänern.

Alexandra Ohlsson at SMHI says to news agency TT she is not sure whether these central and northern areas will get more snowfall during the 24th of December but that strong winds will be blowing snow on the roads in Västernorrland and Uppland along the Baltic coast.

Temperatures for Yule will range from minus 20, or colder, in the further north, to some degrees above freezing on the Baltic island of Gotland.
