White powder sent to debt collection agency
Nine people have been decontaminated after coming into contact with an envelope containing a suspicious white powder which was sent to the Swedish Enforcement Authority in Malmö.
The national debt collection agency's offices in Västra Hamnen in Malmö were evacuated and cordoned off today after the agency received an envelope with a suspicious white powder, reports news agency TT.
Masstorget, which is in the area, was also roped off.
The letter had already been opened by one person at the Tax Agency at Hjalmar Gullbergsgatan. Then the letter was taken to the debt collection agency.
Kim Hild with the Skåne police told TT that they have people on the scene who are specially trained in handling dangerous objects.
No-one has yet taken up an offer of a medical check-up following exposure to the powder. Police expect analysis of the powder to be completed by tomorrow at the earliest.
