Restaurants did well financially in 2014, according to new figures from the industry branch organization Visita, with sales between January and November rising by 4.2 percent, compared to the year before.

During the last decade, only in 2007 and 2012 has the industry seen more dramatic increases in sales.

Total turnover for the year landed at SEK 110.5 billion, according to the preliminary numbers.

Sales volume at cafes and pastry shops went up by 8 percent, for example. However, fast food restaurants only saw sales go up by just over 2 percent.

According to Visita, the number of full-time jobs within the restaurant industry rose by 4,000 in 2014.
