A man has admitted he hired over a hundred people, who then found out their jobs did not exist.

The 43-year-old man says to Kronoberg police he thought it was a good idea to set up a small employment agency to supply workers for a new warehouse that had opened in the Växjö area.

A woman was also questioned by police, but says she was also fooled by the man.

He tells police he was overwhelmed by the number of people who applied and he was not able to keep track of how many he hired.

News agency TT reports the man saying to police he thought of hiring 4-5 people. Around 130 turned up on Monday to find their jobs did not exist.
