Force Majeur, by Swedish director Ruben Östlund, lost out on a Golden Globe as the Russian movie Leviathan took home the award for Best Foreign Film at the US gala on Sunday.

“I’m not disappointed," Östlund told Swedish television SVT, adding that Leviathan, is a worthy winner and that the director, Andrey Zvyagintsev, is very talented.

Östlund will remain in the US for some time as he is taking Force Majeur on a viewing tour. The film is to be shown in 15 American cities. The tour list includes Washington D.C., New York City and Minneapolis – a city with a strong Swedish immigrant heritage.

Östlund said he does not think his next film, The Square, will be a Golden Globe contender. Force Majeur was about the upper middle class, and that is why it was attractive for Hollywood, Östlund said.
