Police tips open to prying eyes
The Swedish police say they have fixed a problem that left online tips from the public accessible to outsiders. The newspaper Dagens Nyheter reported Wednesday that the online contact form on the police website had no form of encryption that would have protected sensitive information.
The newspaper compared the situation to someone sending information on a postcard instead of a registered letter.
The police press secretary Stephan Ray commented that the problem was “obviously unfortunate and serious”.
