Mosque official supported IS fighters

Published onsdag 14 januari 2015 kl 12.45

The TT news agency reports that an official at a mosque in Gävle has expressed support for two men from Örebro who died fighting for IS in Iraq.

According to media reports, on his Facebook page, the 32 year old official at the Sunni mosque has written “We shall say congratulations to the brother and his family. May Allah accept him. Martyrdom is that which our beloved prophet wished for three times.”

The man previously lived in Örebro, where he had a similar role at the mosque there, and knew the two men. The Gävle Islamic community has now removed his name from their website and has issued a statement rejected violence.
