Emergency services and the coast guard managed to contain a mystery oil spill near Gothenburg harbour late on Sunday.

An estimated 20-150 litres of oil had spilled form an unknown source. The alarm was raised 10:45 pm. The oil has now been removed and will be cleaned up during Monday.

Gothenburg harbour says to new agency TT the oil seems to be diesel, or some other fluid that lies on the top of the water. Oil is one of the products imported to Gothenburg harbour.

Police are investigating it as a possible crime that broke environmental laws.
