The Christian Democrat Party, whose long-time leader, Göran Hägglund, announced on Thursday that he was stepping down, opted for a clean sweep at the top on Friday, with members of the party executive vacating their seats.

Aside from Maria Larsson, who is resigning her post, it is not yet known which of the departing  executive board members will put themselves forward for re-election on April 25, when the party will choose a new leader and executive.

Göran Hägglund on Thursday surprised many when he announced that he was stepping down as party leader, after eleven years at the helm.
