Charlotte Kalla won the gold medal at the Swedish Championship 10-kilometre freestyle Saturday, crossing the finishing line well before challenger Anna Haag.

Kalla finished the race 1.19 minutes ahead of Haag, and the bronze went to Emma Wikén, who was an additional seven seconds behind.

“The distances were quite significant,” Kalla told Swedish Radio’s sports department. She added: “It has been fun to ski. We tackled a pretty challenging track.”

Today’s medal is Kalla’s nineteenth Swedish Championship gold. Asked how she feels about the upcoming World Championship, Kalla said: “It feels good… Most of the training is done and now it’s all about bringing out the real top form.”
