Sunday has been marred by severe weather in Sweden, with up to 20 centimetres of snow and harsh winds bringing nightmare conditions for motorists in some parts of the country.

On Sunday, the Swedish Transport Administration warned of mod on the roads and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) issued several Class-1 weather warnings, which indicate weather conditions that carry certain risks to the public and disruption of some societal functions.

Several accidents were reported Sunday. In Norrköping, eastern Sweden four people – including one child – were brought to hospital after a frontal crash between two cars. According to local media reports, two of the wounded are in critical condition.
