Sweden Democrat fired after racist post online
An assistant to Sweden Democrat EU parliamentarian Kristina Winberg was fired Tuesday for having written racist posts and inciting hatred against Jews and Muslims on the Swedish internet forum Flashback.
"It is not possible to defend what he has done and written about," Winberg told news agency TT. She also said that what the man wrote was completely against the party's fundamental ideology and that she was shocked when she read his posts and said that she had not seen any signs of this attitude while he was at work.
According to newspaper Aftonbladet, who had conducted the investigation along with Researchgruppen, the man wrote, among other things:
"Islam and its people are an invention of hell that should be driven back to the desert, with weapons if necessary." He also called Jerzy Sarnecki, a professor of criminology, "Jewish pig" in his posts.
Right before the man was fired he had sent an SMS to newspaper Metro, saying that he wanted to apologize. He expressed regret for what he wrote, saying in the text, "I am a different person today and have matured a lot."
The man is 30 years old now and some of the post are six and seven years old, others from last year, according to Aftonbladet.
Aftonbladet also reported that they discovered a former local level Green Party aid from southern Sweden had written racist comments on Flashback as well.
