Power returns to Gotland
Electricity has returned to most of the island of Gotland, after a power outage that at worst had 40,000 households without current.
The electricity disappeared around 1:30 PM, and was restored to virtually all customers by around 5:00 PM. Björn Axelsson, head of network operations for the Geab power company, tells P4 Gotland that the cause of the power failure was a very rare short circuit or grounding fault.
At 3184 square kilometers (1,229 square miles), Gotland is slightly larger than the American state of Rhode Island.
