Hansdotter wins slalom silver
Swedish alpine skier Frida Hansdotter won a silver in the women's slalom in the alpine skiing world championships in the USA Saturday night.
Hansdotter was in second place after the first run, and was close to winning the gold after a blinding second run. However, American Mikaela Shiffrin had a faster finish, meaning she just edged ahead, beating Hansdotter by 34 hundredths of a second.
This was Hansdotters second career World Championship medal, she told Swedish Radio News' sports department:
"I know that Shiffrin skis very well. I thought I had a good run and could see I had a big lead, I thought that I might be able to make it, but then I saw how fast she was at the end. And she's worth it, home turf and everything."
