Three of Sweden's medal hopes in this week's World Ski Championships in Falun, have been placed on home isolation with mild respiratory infections, and may not compete, Swedish Radio News reports.

According to the Swedish ski team physician, Per Andersson, cross-country skiers Emil Jönsson, Anna Haag and Daniel Richardsson might have to sit out the championships if they're not fully recovered.

"They are all recovering from a mild respiratory infection, and won't compete judging by their current condition. We don't want to risk any of our skiers' health", Per Andersson says.

Swedish Olympic gold medalist Charlotte Kalla, however, showed great form at the weekend when she won the 10 kilometer cross-country sprint, beating Norway's Marit Björgren by 36 seconds, and is one of Sweden's strongest medal candidates in the Championships, which begin on home soil, in Falun, on Wednesday.
