Stina Nilsson took Sweden's first medal of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, claiming silver in the women's classical cross-country sprint.

The 21-year-old Nilsson was second behind Marit Björgen of Norway, to get the Swedish team off to a flying start on the first day of the championships in Falun.

It was Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Björgen's 13th world championship title.

The six-time Olympic champion went from third to first when coming into the stadium and comfortably beat Nilsson and Norwegian teammate Maiken Caspersen Falla on the final stretch.
