Suspected attackers of serial rapist Hagamannen acquitted
The three men suspected of having attacked the convicted serial rapist known as Hagamannen were acquitted Friday by the Haparanda district court in northern Sweden.
The court argued that there was not enough evidence to sentence the suspects of aggravated assault, Swedish Radio News reports.
Last August, Hagamannen was attacked with a golf club in Övertorneå, a small town in northern Sweden, near the Finnish border.
Hagamannen was convicted of multiple rapes and attempted murder in Umeå. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison and was released in July this year, which stirred controversy in Sweden.
