Nominees have been announced for the 2016 P3 Guld awards, which lets listeners vote for their favorite musical artists of the year.

P3 Guld is the music prize of Swedish Radio’s youth channel and seeks to highlights the year's greatest artists and their contributions to Sweden's music scene.

Tina Mehrafzoon is this year's host of the awards ceremony and says this year's line up is so good she just might be tempted to let someone else run the ceremony.

"I'm very excited about the show. It's almost like I feel 'should I really be hosting this?'. Maybe it'll be a lot more fun if I'm in the audience and just enjoying the show," she tells Radio Sweden. "Backstage is not at all glamorous as you might think."

P3 Guld is also known for promoting up-and-coming acts that might not yet be household names, featuring them as live performers at the awards night.

"We usually book people that we believe will take 2016 by storm, people that we have expectation for," Mehrafzoon says.

The prize has nine different categories, with five nominees in each. There's the "Artist of the Year", "Band of the year" and "Song of the year" categories, but also "Performer of the Year" and "Newcomer of the year". Listeners get to vote for who ultimately wins, however, special juries select the nominees.

Votes can be cast here and the winners will be named at a ceremony on Jan. 16 at the Scandinavium Theater in Gothenburg.
