Sjöström wins butterfly gold in Israel
Sarah Sjöström won gold in the 50m butterfly at the European Short Course Championships in Israel, Thursday.
The Swede won with a personal best and new championship record of 24.58 seconds.
Earlier on Thursday, the 22-year-old qualified for the 100m freestyle, which takes place on Friday.
Sjöström was not the only Swedish swimmer to enjoy a good day in the pool.
Breaststroke swimmer Erik Persson set a new Swedish record of 2.04.42 to finish fifth in the 200m final.
The Championship, in Netanya, runs until Sunday.
