Swedish furniture giant IKEA has announced an annual increase in sales of 11.2 per cent, to EUR 31.9 billion. Net income was at EUR 3.5 billion for the financial year 2015, while total revenue amounted to EUR 32.7 billion, an increase of 11.5 per cent on the year.

“We have a great year behind us and have invested considerably in sustainability, in creating a better offer as well as being more accessible,” IKEA CEO Peter Agnefjäll said in a statement posted on the group's website.

In the statement, Agnefjäll went on to stress the group’s sustainability initiatives by pointing out that Ikea had sold more than 90 million LED bulbs to date.

IKEA also allocated EUR 105 million to its Tack!, (Thanks!), employee loyalty programme, bringing the total distributed by the scheme, now in its third year, to EUR 305 million.
