Class 2 storm alert in north
The Swedish weather service SMHI has issued a Class 2 storm alert in the mountains of Jämtland and Härjedalen, with storm winds as well in Västernorrland and Gävleborg.
Trains in Jämtland have been halted, and police and rescue services have increased staffing. The local authorities have called on the public to stay indoors.
This follows a Class 1 storm alert issued earlier in the day for Halland and Västra Götaland, in southwestern Sweden. Winds there were expected to reach 75 kilometers an hour, with heavy winds as well over Svealand.
