The weather service SMHI has issued a Class 1 alert for snow and hazardous roads in the south, as temperatures going above and below the freezing point can cause slippery conditions. With many people returning home after celebrating Christmas, Sunday is expected to be one of the year’s most dangerous days for road traffic.

Swedish Radio’s Traffic Department says the E4 highway between Mjölby and Stavsjö is the worst affected, with several accidents since morning.

There are also problems on the E6, because of both flooding and slippery conditions.
