Thousands of government jobs should be moved from cities to the countryside, a committee of politicians is set to propose.

The parliamentary group will suggest moving 10,000 state jobs to rural parts of Sweden, Swedish Radio News reported.

Social Democrat Johan Persson, who leads the committee, did not confirm the reports but said it was important the group included targeted measures in its policy for rural Sweden.

The committee is scheduled to submit its final report in January 2017.
