Motorists are being warned about icy roads in large parts of southern and central Sweden on Wednesday morning.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a Class 1 weather warning for black ice after temperatures below freezing overnight led to roads becoming slippery.

Rain moving up from Denmark landing on cold roads can form a layer of ice.

The rain will continue to fall into the evening, but SMHI said the issue with slippery roads is likely to disappear before then.
