Wildfire warning issued across Sweden
Large tracts of Sweden have been put on alert for grass fires, Swedish news agency TT reports.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, SMHI, has issued a warning that large areas of Sweden, amounting to around half the surface area of the country, are at risk of grass fires.
Alerts have been issued for: Västernorrland, Gävleborg, Dalarna (excluding mountainous areas), Västmanland, Örebro, Uppsala, Värmland, Stockholm, Gotland, Kronoberg and eastern areas of Västra Götaland.
In these areas, people have been urged to "exercise extreme caution" when lighting fires outdoors.
Such warnings are issued every year in Sweden as winter snow begins to melt.
