One of Sweden's most sensational murder cases came to trial at Västmanland district court on Monday where a 42-year-old woman is suspected of murdering both her husband and her father with help from her boyfriend.

A large media presence heard prosecutor Johan Fahlander tell the court that the woman had lived above her means and had murdered her relatives for money.

The woman denies carrying out the murders, but her Afghan ex-boyfriend admitted to stabbing the woman's mother and father, on behalf of the 42-year-old suspect.

This week the court will focus on the death of the woman's husband, who was found drowned in a lake in Arboga in August 2015. The trial is expected to last for many weeks.

Radio Sweden spoke to Robin Gustafson, reporter with Swedish Radio's who has been covering the story for the local channel in Sörmland.
