Swedish actor, director and writer Hans "Hasse" Alfredson has died at the age of 86.

Alfredson's son Daniel confirmed his death for news agency TT late Sunday. Alfredson died at Danderyd's Hospital, just north of Stockholm municipality.

He is known for his comedy collaboration with actor Tage Danielsson in the duo "Hasse & Tage". The pair met while both working at Swedish Radio in the 1950s and later starred in numerous films and television series together.

Film historian, Mikaela Kindblom, who works at Filmstaden Råsunda ("the Hollywood of Sweden"), told Radio Sweden that after Tage Danielsson died, Alfredson continued making films on his own, but that they were much darker and more serious.
