A program matches newly arrived immigrants studying Swedish with native speakers looking for a friend they can work out with.

The project, called Tillsammans tränar vi, or Let's work out together, has been tried in several municipalities.

In the Danderyd municipality, north of Stockholm, newly arrived immigrants are given eight free passes to the gym and a chance to meet Swedes while they exercise.

The project began in November at the Friskis and Svettis gym and does not have an end date. Those taking part are encouraged to meet outside of their workouts, as well.
