Cost of Services Outpaces Consumer Index

Published onsdag 28 september 2005 kl 11.55

A new report indicates that during the last decade costs here for electricity, heating, garbage collection, and water have gone up several times more than the overcall cost of living.

The study reveals that household electrical costs have risen by 34 percent in the last 10 years.

Garbage collection went up by 40 percent, and water by 25. That compares to a 9 percent rise in the Consumer Price Index during the same period.

Meanwhile, a separate report indicates that Swedish household debts continue to rise. Statistics Sweden attributes that increase to rising mortgage costs.
