Baltic Ferry Runs Aground
On the eve of the 11th anniversary of the sinking of the Estonia, another passenger ferry on the same route ran aground in the Stockholm archipelago Tuesday night.
The operating company Tallink said there was some damage to the Regina Baltica, but no injuries to the 540 people onboard. Tallink says according to preliminary information, the ship ran aground because of engine failure, which paralyzed the navigation systems. The ferry returned to Sweden, where the passengers could disembarkThe Estonia sank on September 28th, 1994, killing 852 people. Last week an Estonian commission rejected speculation there were secret weapons being carried onboard.
