Interest in Swedish Climate Policy in US
Swedish Environment Minister Lena Sommestad says the United States has shown interest in Swedish climate policies.
During her recent trip to Washington Sommestad met senior Bush Administration officials, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, and the influential Senator John McCain. She says that during open and constructive talks she took up the Swedish example, that it is possible to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and maintain economic growth.
The Swedish environment minister says she also underlined the position of Sweden and the European Union about the importance of the Kyoto Protocol, which the Bush Administration has refused to sign.
