World Cup Qualifier Loss

Published måndag 10 oktober 2005 kl 11.40

Sweden lost a secure spot going into the final round of the World Cup qualifiers Saturday, loosing to Croatia 1-0.

The result extended Croatia’s unbeaten record at home to 28 matches, and snapped Sweden’s unbeaten away record of 15 matches for European or World Cup qualifiers.

Sweden, which was playing without Juventus star Zlatan Ibrahimovic because of a knee injury, can still make it into the next round of the World Cup qualifiers with a win Wednesday at home against Iceland.

Meanwhile an unemployed soccer fan on the island of Gotland who won a record 16 million dollars in a lottery during the weekend, says he wants to use his winnings to buy Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his local club, second division Gute.
