Sweden Loses in EU Court

Published onsdag 12 oktober 2005 kl 12.02

Sweden has lost in the European Court of Justice for failing to resolve a legal case in a reasonable time.

The man who brought the suit has had his case pending in the Swedish courts since 1994, and he has had property worth more than 30,000 dollars impounded for the last three years.

The European court ruled that the Swedish state has violated article six of the European Convention, and has ordered Sweden to pay the man 8750 euros for damages and court costs.
