Sweden have qualified for next summer’s World Cup In Germany, securing their place as one the best two second place teams with a 3-1 victory over Iceland in front of the home fans at the Råsunda stadium.

Henrik Larsson had come in for criticism from some sections of the press in the lead up to the match, but responded in style with a well taken second goal. Zlatan and Kim Källström were also on the scoresheet.

Sweden finished on the same number of points as Croatia but Croatia won the qualifying group because of their two wins against the Swedes.

Under European rules, the eight group winners and the top two second-place teams advance automatically.

Sweden will find out who they play in Germany when the draw for the World Cup group stages is made on December the 9th.
