Wireless equipment maker LM Ericsson reports that it has received contracts worth some US$290 million from Chinese operators Guangdong Mobile Communication Corp. and Guangzi Mobile Communication Corp. to expand their GSM networks.

Under the contracts, Ericsson will supply these subsidiaries of China Mobile Ltd. with core and radio access network equipment, including both hardware and software as well as related telecom services.

Once completed, the company said the expansions will boost the network capacity of Guangdong Mobile to more than 60 million subscribers, and Guangxi Mobile to nearly 10 million.
