OECD Criticises Swedish Integration
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has strongly criticized Sweden’s integration policies.
In a new report the OECD says integration has been set back here by forcing immigrants to move to areas where there is available housing, but few jobs.
The study, which was presented at a conference Monday at the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg, concludes that the Swedish system has led to a dependence on welfare rather than employment.
The report lays much of the blame on the decision in the 1980’s to transfer the responsibility for receiving refugees from the state to municipalities.
