Complaint Against Secret Printer Codes

Published tisdag 1 november 2005 kl 11.49

A complaint has been filed against those responsible for the introduction of secret codes to track users of color printers and photocopy machines.

According to press reports, the authorities in several countries, including Sweden, have been secretly working with hardware manufacturers to include special codes in print-outs, visible only under ultraviolet light. The purported aim is to find counterfeiters and forgers.

But, following the revelations, complaints have filed here, both with the police and the Justice Ombudsman. The complainant says that the codes could also be used to identify those who distribute inconvenient political or religious opinions.
