Liquor Store Bribery Trials Open

Published måndag 7 november 2005 kl 11.35

The first trial opens in Stockholm Monday in connection with alleged bribery at Sweden’s state liquor stores.

Altogether 92 people have been charged in the affair, where employees at three distributors are accused of pay-offs totaling around 150 thousand dollars.

The investigation has been divided into 6 separate trials. The first involves three employees of a distributor charged with 115 thousands dollars in bribes, along with 18 state liquor store managers.

But one of the main suspects will not be in court, as according to his attorney he is too ill to attend.
