Sweden’s Santa Mailboxes

Published måndag 28 november 2005 kl 11.48

The Swedish Post Office is preparing for the annual onslaught of letters to Santa Claus with a new touch, special mailboxes.

While the location of Santa’s workshop is variously placed at the North Pole, Greenland, or Finland, many children believe Santa lives here. Last year the Swedish Post Office received 200,000 letters from children with their Christmas lists.

Each letter receives a reply, which includes a small gift, through a dedicated Santa service. But this year the Swedish Post Office has erected special red mailboxes in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, and Umeå, to make sure letters to Santa are delivered without delay to the Christmas authorities.
