Alleged Chinese Trafficking Ring

Published måndag 28 november 2005 kl 11.53

The Swedish police have taken into custody two Chinese nationals suspected of trafficking teenagers.

They believe the two have played a major role in a network that trafficked young Chinese aged between 13 and 18.

In the last year 103 young Chinese have arrived at Stockholm’s Arlanda International Airport and have asked for political asylum. Almost all have later disappeared from refugee camps. More than 40 others have vanished in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland.

The Swedish border police say one theory is that the Chinese teens are being exploited as cheap labor in European factories.
