Swedish Peacekeeper Killed in Afghanistan

Published måndag 28 november 2005 kl 11.57

A Swedish soldier with the NATO-led mission in northern Afghanistan died after a mine exploded Friday.

He was the first Swedish peacekeeper to be killed as part of the ISAF mission to the country.

The Swedish Defence Ministry says he was one of four wounded when their vehicle drove over a mine in the outskirts of Maza-i-Sharif.

The other three have been flown to a hospital at an undisclosed location in Europe. Two are said to be in serious or critical condition.

Their identities and current location are being kept secret, as they are members of a special elite force.
