Potential Cancer Vaccine Presented
Scientists at Gothenburg’s Sahlgrenska University Hospital say they have developed a potential vaccine against cancer.
Their research is being presented Wednesday to the annual meeting of the Swedish Medical Society. According to a press release from the hospital, the vaccine uses white blood cells from a donor to trigger the body’s immune system to reject cancerous cells. It has shown promising results against breast cancer cells injected into rats. The first evaluation of the vaccine on human patients is expected to begin within the next year.
