Royal Honor to England Coach
England coach Sven-Göran Eriksson was honored for his contributions to soccer Tuesday, by Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf.
Eriksson was one of thirty-six recipients of royal medals at Stockholm Palace.
England’s first foreign coach received the King’s Medal of the Twelfth Size with the Royal Blue Ribbon. He was originally supposed to receive the honor at a ceremony in June but was unable to attend.
Other recipients included athletes Carolina Klüft and Stefan Holm, actors, writers, business executives, and the former governor of the Bank of Sweden.
